The Jesus Team from Japan arrived in Zambia on Wednesday, 26 August — yesterday at the time of writing — ready to enter the life and ministry of YWAM Lusaka. Their visit is a focused two-week outreach built around relationship, practical participation and making Jesus known wherever doors open.

The group includes a student from a YWAM school that runs for nine months. What has been learned in the classroom is now being carried into a different culture and a demanding ministry schedule. About ten days of the visit are set aside for hands-on outreach, giving the team opportunities to listen, serve, share their faith and learn from Zambian churches, ministries and communities.

Carrying the message through media

Media ministry is an important part of the programme. Earlier today the team shared on Radio Christian Voice (RCV), speaking through a platform that reaches listeners far beyond the base. They are also reaching out to television stations and expect to appear on ZNBC, TV KB and several other channels. These conversations create space for testimonies, the message of Jesus and stories of what God is doing through missions to enter homes across Zambia.

Their media work is not limited to live interviews. The team is also exploring publications and other communication platforms, learning how radio, television and written stories can support face-to-face ministry. Each appearance is part of the same purpose: meeting people where they already listen, watch and read.

Worship, prayer and campus ministry

Tomorrow evening, Friday, 28 August, the Jesus Team is scheduled to join a worship night at the University of Zambia. The gathering will place them among students and young adults for worship, prayer, conversation and campus ministry. Worship and prayer nights will continue to anchor the outreach, keeping public activity connected to time in God's presence.

A full weekend of ministry

Saturday and Sunday will carry the team into a wide range of ministry. Plans include street outreach, campus engagement, conversations through media and publications, and time serving alongside people at the base. The schedule is varied, but the goal is consistent: to be present, respond to people with compassion and share the hope of Jesus in practical and personal ways.

Between public assignments, the team is also sharing everyday life with the YWAM Lusaka community. Meals, prayer, worship and ordinary conversations at the base are part of cross-cultural mission too. The story is still unfolding, and we look forward to sharing more of what happens during their remaining days in Zambia.
